Kurt Thormahlen, General Manager SLS & DRC, Member Board of Directors DRCA

Mr. Thormahlen currently serves as the General Manager of DRC Emergency Services, LLC and Division Manager/ Response at SLSCO, Ltd.  SLSCO is a program & construction management and general contracting firm specializing in providing comprehensive disaster response, recovery and restoration services.  SLSCO and its commonly-owned affiliates have the ability to be involved in recovery missions from beginning to end, which can last a decade or longer. Its affiliate, DRC Emergency Services, specializes in providing extensive disaster recovery, environmental and civil construction services and is recognized for providing government and private entities with rapid response solutions and facilitating the most efficient immediate recovery efforts tailored to each specific disaster.

 

Prior to joining DRC and SLSCO, Mr. Thormahlen served with DynCorp International in Southwest Asia on the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement contract where he planned and effected large scale helicopter missions in support of numerous government agencies. Before transitioning to the private sector, Mr. Thormahlen served as the United States Marine Corps Officer and Helicopter Pilot where he traveled around the world executing multiple operations for the United States Government including Operations Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom/ Afghanistan, and numerous contingency operations.  His final tour was with HMX-1 flying the President of the United States Vice President, Cabinet members and other VIPs around the world.

Mr. Thormahlen obtained his Bachelors of Business Administration/ Management from Texas A&M University. He is also a graduate of the United States Marine Corps’ Expeditionary Warfare School and the United States Naval Post Graduate School of Aviation Safety.
